As Vampire Weekend prepare to launch their new album, Only God Was Above Us, on April 5, they have shared two singles and booked a substantial tour running through the summer and into the fall.
New singles "Capricorn" and "Gen-X Cops" are both very pretty tunes with noisy elements that come and go from the detailed, intricate arrangements. They both come with videos showcasing a gritty, retro side of New York City.
Fans will presumably be able to hear these songs when the band hits the road this year. The schedule includes lots of US dates plus three Canadian stops: in the Vancouver outskirt of Burnaby on June 18, in Toronto on September 24, and in the Montreal suburb of Laval on September 25.
