Tim Hecker Announces 'No Highs' Album, Featuring Colin Stetson

Hear the track "Lotus Light" now

Canadian sound sculptor Tim Hecker has announced his latest album. No Highs is out April 28 on Kranky, and the new single "Lotus Light" is available now.

A press release calls the album "a beacon of unease against the deluge of false positive corporate ambient currently in vogue." It features Colin Stetson on saxophone, as well as strings, "mantric horns" and "cathedral keys."

For a sample of this "anti-relaxant" sound, listen to the eight-and-a-half-minute "Lotus Light" below. In it, a low-end synth grows increasingly ominous, melting into spooky, ambient abstraction.

No Highs is available to pre-order digitally, on CD or double vinyl from Bandcamp. Tomorrow (January 27), Hecker will release his score for the Brandon Cronenberg film Infinity Pool, which also arrives in theatres. Today, he released the track "Orgy" from his score, which can be heard at the bottom of this page.
