Some One Direction Fan-Fiction Is Being Adapted for a Movie

One Direction fans are surely still reeling from the loss of their beloved Zayn Malik, who quit the group earlier this year. Thankfully, our imaginations don't have to be as painful as this very real hell world, so we often retreat into fictional stories. One Direction fan-fiction is an incredibly deep and occasionally dark corner of the web, and one piece of 1D fanfic will now be adapted for the big screen.

It's not entirely unprecedented (keep in mind that your mom's favourite sex fantasy Fifty Shades of Grey started as Twilight fanfic), but this is certainly the first time that One Direction fanfic will be adapted by a major motion picture company.

As The Hollywood Reporter explains, Anna Todd's book After is being adapted by Susan McMartin, to eventually be released by Paramount.

The book follows a young virgin named Tessa who attends Washington State. She eventually meets a sexy tattooed boy named Harry (meant to be the eternally bedheaded sexpot Harry Styles, obviously). The film is being pitched as a Fifty Shades of Grey for a younger generation.

After was originally released via the Wattpad fanfic community, where it has earned over one billion views. It was later published by Gallery Books.

Suffice to say, we're hoping the film is a runaway success, if only so it opens the floodgates for other fanfic film adaptions. Wouldn't you love to see an animated series about Sonic the Hedgehog's diaper fetish, or an in-depth look at the sexual exploits of the Barenaked Ladies?

A two-year old, fan-made trailer for After has been viewed over half a million times on YouTube. It can be viewed below.
