In an alarming development, rock musician Dave Pajo — a veteran of numerous bands including Slint, Interpol, Zwan and more — survived a suicide attempt in the early hours of this morning (February 13).
The specific details surrounding the incident are unknown, but emergency services apparently were able to intervene. He's in the hospital, and this morning posted a photo of himself giving the thumbs up.
Prior to the attempt, the guitarist (and multi-instrumentalist) posted a lengthy suicide note on his blog. It's addressed to his wife Leila, who Pajo accused of having an affair that he apparently discovered over the weekend. Over the past few days, Pajo has posted Instagram images about the affair and had shared suicidal thoughts.
Born in Louisville, KY, Pajo co-founded Slint back in the '80s. Along with the aforementioned acts, he's also contributed to acts like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Tortoise, Will Oldham, Royal Trux, Stereolab and more. He has released solo music as Pajo, Papa M and Ariel M.
