Sleigh Bells Return with New Album 'Texis'

Watch their video for the single "Locust Laced"

After taking a few years off from recording, 2000s noise-pop darlings Sleigh Bells have returned with plans for a brand new record called Texis. The release will arrive through Mom + Pop Music on September 10, and today, we're getting a taste of what's in store for us with a new single.

"Locust Laced" finds Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss reuniting for the lead single from their sixth studio album. The song comes along with its own Miller- and Nina Ljeti-directed video, which reimagines the band as a deranged country music duo whose singer flips her shit on stage — a thematic reflection of the album to come.

"The thing I'm most attracted to is the juxtaposition of happy and sad, melancholy and hope," Miller explained of the forthcoming record. "A lot of this is about trying to hold on to a shred of optimism through sheer force of will, and I hope this music can give people some joyful energy and confidence."

Sleigh Bells will also head out on a lengthy tour in support of the album later this year. Among the 30 North American dates they've scheduled for late 2021 and early 2022, Sleigh Bells will perform two nights in Canada, including a stop at Vancouver's Venue Nightclub and another at Toronto's Axis Club.
