Last year, rootsy Canadian combo Skydiggers issued their eighth LP, Northern Shore. This year, though, the band will celebrate their 25th anniversary with four new releases. The first will be a live collection called All of our Dreaming: Skydiggers Live, 1988, 2000 & 2012 that captures the band at three separate stages in their career.
The triple-disc set features two CDs and a DVD, and will be delivered March 5 through Latent Recordings. The fist disc is a previously unreleased concert set called Spadina Hotel, which was recorded back in 1988 during the band's early days spent at the Toronto club of the same name.
"We cut our teeth there" vocalist Andy Maize said in a statement. "It forced us to come up with new songs every week and it prepared us for what was to come. What you hear on Spadina Hotel is a young band finding its voice and recorded from the audience with a single microphone." You can sample the set via an acoustic performance of "Wreck of the Old 97" in the player down below.
The second disc is a reissue of the troupe's 2000 live set There & Back, which gathered live cuts captured at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern and Edmonton's Sidetrack cafe in the late '90s.
Finally, a brand new DVD called Skydiggers Live at The Glenn Gould Theatre, which was filmed last October, closes out the set.
While details on the other three anniversary packages the group have in store for listeners in 2013 have yet to emerge, they will apparently be scattered throughout the year and have been in the works for quite some time now.
"We have a number of projects brewing that we have talked about putting out for years and now we are going to bring some of those ideas to fruition," Maize elaborated. "We want to harness this creative momentum and renewed energy that has been pushing us forward. We can't ignore it. We need to jump on board. Now is the time."
Skydiggers are also expected to drop details on an upcoming national tour sometime in the near future.
