It's official: confirming recent speculation, Roy Woods has signed with Drake's OVO Sound label (along with Warner Bros. Records), and the Torontonian has made his official debut by rolling out the digital EP Exis.
The six-track set includes the Drake-assisted hip-hop/soul ballad "Drama." Exis sounds very much in line with OVO's signature sound, since Woods emotess plaintively amidst moody, minimal electronic soundscapes marked by echo, reverb and stark beats. "Go Go Go" refers to losing a lover and letting go of pain, "Unleashed" juxtaposes melancholic crooning with aggressive rap, and, of course, Drizzy sings about a woman's personal struggles on "Drama."
