After making the festival rounds in 2024, Tashiina Buswa's Ribbon Skirt (f.k.a. Love Language) have announced plans for an album under their new moniker called Bite Down, arriving April 11 via Mint Records.
The group shared in a release:
To be Anishinaabe is to move through the world in respect and reciprocity, taking what you need and giving back whenever you can, while always acknowledging the gift that is the journey itself. It's a way of life that was interrupted and severely damaged by the ravages of settler colonialism. But in our ongoing recovery from those harms, we as a people have found beautiful ways to restore those gifts, and create something regenerative and enriching for future generations. Bite Down is one of those gifts.
Ahead of next month's Taverne Tour appearance, the trio have detailed the effort, which was previously previewed by lead single "Cellophane." Today, the group share latest single "Wrong Planet," alongside a music video directed by Ana-Maria Espino Trudel with assistant director Colin Ratchford, and starring dancers Laura Jeffrey and Heather Lynn.
