Earlier this year, the Pains of Being Pure at Heart's Kip Berman shared a pair of demos. One of them was a song called "Hell," which has since been recorded proper for a new EP.
In a press release, Berman explained that the positive response to the demo inspired the band to record a proper version of "Hell" at their friend Danny's House Under Magic studio. "The song 'Hell' is about how insufferable performances of sensitivity are when there's a good song playing and someone you want to dance with," he added.
The group also recorded two covers, taking on Felt's "Ballad of the Band" and James' "Laid." The latter song features vocals from former Pains member and current A Sunny Day in Glasgow member Jen Goma. It can be streamed below.
The Hell EP will arrive on November 13 via the band's own, aptly named label Painbow.
