Olivia and the Creepy Crawlies

"Last Nite" (the Strokes cover) (live video)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jun 18, 2015

London, ON-based folk eccentrics Olivia and the Creepy Crawlies recently shared their appreciation for the literary past with their video for "Gatsby," but now they're looking to show off their knowledge of a more recent musical history. A frequent addition to their live set, the band have now captured their cover of the Strokes' "Last Nite" on film — and Exclaim! has got your exclusive first look at it.

This particular rendition was filmed and recorded at Hamilton's Porcelain Studios by Brock Phelan. It sees frontwoman Olivia Borkosky backed by her "cheekiest musical pals" — beers in hand — who generally strive to deliver a brand of folk-pop that's more adorable than creepy.

They take that sound to the Strokes' breakout hit, though given the source material there's an undeniable garage rock edge to this rendition. Catchy pop harmonies and Borkosky's folksy croon do add a bit of levity to the track, though.
