Following eight years of music-making, Obey the Brave are calling it quits.

"After 8 years, 4 albums and countless tours across 5 continents, we've decided to hang up our skates," the Ottawa/Montreal metalcore crew wrote in a statement on Facebook. "As much as we love this band, our focus and priorities have shifted. Now that we're all busy chasing new endeavours and experiences, it feels like the right time to move on."

The band added that there will be no final shows "For obvious reasons...just fond memories that we'll cherish for a lifetime. We've had the honour of releasing music on Epitaph, shared the stage with our favourite bands and met some incredible people along the way. What a f*cking ride! We're forever grateful for the support you've given us over the years."

Obey the Brave formed in 2012 with the lineup of Despised Icon vocalist Alex Erian, Blind Witness bassist Miguel Lepage, guitarist John Campbell, guitarist Greg Wood and drummer Stevie Morotti. The group released the 2012 EP Ups and Downs ahead of rolling out full-length debut Young Blood that same year.

Sophomore album Salvation followed in 2014, marking the band's final record with Lepage and Wood. Third LP Mad Season would see release in 2017, ahead of last year's Balance.

Ahead of the latter's release, guitarist John Campbell and bassist Cory Wilson both left the group, leaving Erian, Morotti and guitarist Terrence McAuley as remaining members. That August, Despised Icon's Ben Landreville joined the group to handle bass duties.
