Two years on from the release of their debut LP, Young Blood, Ottawa/Montreal metalcore wrecking crew Obey the Brave have announced their next plan of attack. The group's sophomore LP Salvation arrives September 16 in Canada through Distort and in the U.S. via Epitaph.
A press release promises 12 "pit-demolishing anthems," with the group maintaining that they're expanding from their metalcore roots by adding broader elements of punk and hardcore into the mix.
"Salvation represents us more accurately, as people, lyrically and musically," vocalist Alex Erian said in a statement. "It's got a bit more punk rock influence, a bit more hardcore. Deep down, we still have metal elements. We consider ourselves a metalcore band. We grew up in the hardcore scene, in the punk rock scene, and enjoy it all."
Down below, you'll find the jud-judding first single "Raise Your Voice," whose video was premiered today (August 11) via Revolver and had Erian explaining that the song is about speaking your mind and staying positive regardless of what critics and detractors may think.
Obey the Brave will also be heading out on tour this fall, supporting Aussie unit the Amity Affliction. While there aren't too many Canadian dates on the upcoming North American trip, Obey the Brave will be playing to mother country crowds in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. You'll find the concert info beneath Salvation's tracklisting.
