Ahead of Nothing giving us their new Tired of Tomorrow album, the Philly outfit have put a spin on slowcore trio Low's old Things We Lost in the Fire heart-crusher "In Metal." A bit more amplified than the original, the cover is streaming now.
Low's version was filled folky strums and singer Mimi Parker's softened vocals, desperately longing to preserve a relationship, before entering a full-band arrangement led by a haunted EBow solo. A more rock-leaning affair, Nothing tackle the track with a few less dynamics. That said, the song still conjures up loneliness and existential dread.
If the opening line about "filling holes with tiny sounds" is a euphemism for putting the song in your ears, then go ahead and give "In Metal" a stream down below.
As for Nothing's next LP, Tired of Tomorrow is due later this year through Relapse.
