After releasing his debut self-titled full-length record in 2017, Mura Masa has now set a release date for his sophomore follow-up. The album is called R.Y.C (Raw Youth Collage), and it's due January 17 via Polydor/Anchor Point.
The record by the artist born Alex Crossan will feature contributions from Clairo, slowthai, Tirzah and Wolf Alice's Ellie Rowsell. See the full tracklist below, where you can also listen to the record's latest single "No Hope Generation." The new track follows the previously released "I Don't Think I Can Do This Again" featuring Clairo.
Raw Youth Collage is available for pre-order now on Crossan's website, where the album is described in further detail. The description reads:
Raw Youth Collage is the sophomore project from British artist Mura Masa. It is intended to be a conceptual album focusing on the need for / dependency on nostalgia and regression in the wake of the often helpless feeling amongst today's youth culture; there is a general melancholia surrounding a past excitement and innocence that is longing to be recaptured, but may never have existed.
Musically, these ideas will be explored through influences familiar to Alex from his childhood, including wide ranging guitar based music, idealistic club/dance music and other relics of the late 90's and early 00's. Collaborators were asked to write and contribute with these themes and references in mind.
Alongside the record announcement, Mura Masa has shared plans for a North American tour. The whole thing kicks off in San Francisco on April 16 next year, making stops in a handful of Canadian cities including Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto. Check the full schedule below.
