Morrissey Says CEO of Capitol Records Wants to Wreck His Career

He still believes the label is holding his record 'Bonfire of Teenagers' hostage

Earlier this year, Morrissey started to believe that Capitol Records was conspiring against him by not releasing his album Bonfire of Teenagers. Now, he's added another pin to his corkboard, accusing the label's CEO of personally trying to end his career.

As per usual, he aired his grievances on his website's message board yesterday (October 15), posting a photo of Capitol's CEO Michelle Jubelirer under the headline "CAPITOL WRECKERS." He then wrote, "Hi! I run Capitol Records and if I want to wreck Morrissey's career no one can stop me. Bye, now!"

Moz then linked to a tweet which shows a video of a seemingly fan-commissioned plane flying a banner that reads "Release Moz's Bonfire of Teenagers!" over Capitol's offices. The video claims that Morrissey called the project "the best album of his life," as if we as a society are missing out by not hearing another record where he whines about cancel culture and being bullied in high school 50 years ago.

Capitol Records became Morrissey's scapegoat in February, shortly after penning a lengthy essay on "cancel vultures" after Miley Cyrus asked to be taken off the Bonfire of Teenagers track "I Am Veronica." Following his personal series of unfortunate events, he's come to believe the label is purposely putting the album's release on the back burner in favour of Sam Smith's "satanism."

Of course, Moz could never believe he's sabotaged his own career by spouting far-right talking points and not releasing good music in decades. At least he has the backing of Michael Imperioli and Josh Klinghoffer for some reason.
