Better late than never?

While Morrissey is in the midst of attempting to release two new albums, the former Smiths member has announced that he has parted ways with Capitol Records, according to a recent post on Morrissey Central, where the singer has also shared that Miley Cyrus is asking for her contribution to Bonfire of Teenagers to be removed.

On December 23, in a post titled "Roll on 2023," Morrissey wrote that he had "voluntarily parted company with Maverick/Quest management" and withdrew "from any association with Capitol Records."

A subsequent post titled "Miley Cyrus Is a Punk Rocker" reveals that Cyrus "now wants to be taken off the song 'I Am Veronica' for which she volunteered backing vocals almost two years ago." The same statement notes that Cyrus's request comes "at a time when Morrissey has disassociated himself with Capitol Records (Los Angeles), who control the hidden album Bonfire of Teenagers."

Cyrus herself has yet to speak publicly on the matter.

The record is produced by Andrew Watt, and is said to feature guest spots by Iggy Pop, Jesse Tobias and Red Hot Chilli Peppers' Chad Smith and Flea, as well as Josh Klinghoffer, who has publicly defended the controversial artist despite his many inflammatory political statements.

Morrissey had planned to release the album in February 2023, though that remains to be seen.
