Montreal's electronic music festival MUTEK has announced the lineup for its 21st edition, as well as some changes to this year's in-person festivities in order to better accommodate social distancing protocols.
Taking place from September 8 to 13 at Place des Arts' Cinquième Salle and Society for Arts and Technology, MUTEK 2020 will also be presented online through a newly-launched virtual experience website. Programming for this year's hybrid edition will be free online and ticketed for in-person events.
Over 100 artists are on the bill for this year's event, 34 of which are local acts. The performances are divided into program series, including the "Play" series at Cinquième Salle, the "Expérience" series on the Esplanade de la Place des Arts, and the "Nocturne" series inside the Satosphère's immersive 360-degree environment.

Tickets for the festival's in-person events are on sale now. Festival organizers ensure that comprehensive safety protocols surrounding COVID-19 will be followed. "In compliance with social distancing guidelines, these spaces will be redesigned to provide participants with total safety and optimized listening and viewing pleasure," according to a press release.
