Moneen Celebrate 10th Anniversary of 'The Red Tree' with Box Set and Toronto Anniversary Show

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Nov 2, 2016

Moneen are 10 years removed from releasing The Red Tree, a record that Exclaim! called "an energetic movement in music" back in 2006. Now, the Brampton outfit are gearing up to celebrate the milestone with a limited-edition vinyl box set and performance.

Taking to Facebook today (November 2), the band revealed that anniversary box includes the record on clear vinyl, including two bonus tracks initially left off the original release. The box will also include a 7-inch with additional bonus tracks, a cassette of home-recorded demos and album documentary It All Started with a Red Stripe on DVD. All contents will be housed in hand-painted and numbered box, limited to 300 copies through Dine Alone Records.

The box will first be available at a special anniversary show that will take place in the new year. The band will play The Red Tree front to back at Lee's Palace on January 7, with the Fullblast to offer support. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday (November 4) at 12 p.m. EDT. The band played an even more intimate show in Mississauga last night to ring in November, which you can read about here.

The Red Tree was last repressed for Record Store Day in 2012, with copies now fetching upwards of $160 on sites such as Discogs. Moneen's last studio LP was 2009's The World I Want to Leave Behind.
