Mogwai co-founder Stuart Braithwaite has announced a new memoir. The vocalist-guitarist will share Spaceships Over Glasgow: Mogwai and Misspent Youth on September 1 via White Rabbit.

In Spaceships Over Glasgow, Braithwaite is said to detail his discovery of alternative music icons like Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, and the Jesus and Mary Chain, his experience seeing bands like the Cure and Nirvana, and the formation of his acclaimed post-rock outfit.

The book's title is a lyric from "Take Me Somewhere Nice," which appeared on 2001's Rock Action, and is also fitting for an author who happens to be the son of Scotland's last telescope-maker.

On Twitter, Braithwaite boiled it down to being "about my teenage idiocy, life in general, gigs and playing in Mogwai," adding in a statement, "I am immensely proud to be working with White Rabbit on my first book Spaceships Over Glasgow. The process of researching it and writing it has been challenging but one that I've really enjoyed. It's incredibly exciting to be able to share it with the world."

Spaceships Over Glasgow is now available for pre-order.

Mogwai's most recent album, last year's As the Love Continues, was nominated for the 2021 Mercury Prize.

The band are currently on a North American tour, and Exclaim! reviewed their Montreal performance.
