Michael Bublé has been on a tear, shocking media pundits for the past couple months, and, in his element at the NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto, he's only getting more unhinged. After recounting his drunken polar bear encounter with Kelly Clarkson a few weeks ago, Canada's Christmas king has followed it up with a classic mistake — accidentally taking a full dose of magic mushrooms instead of the planned microdose.
UPDATE (02/02, 1:47 p.m. ET): Bublé has clarified online that he was joking about taking the mushrooms and was just trying to make people laugh.
At a media session with fellow All-Star celebrity captain Will Arnett, Bublé was firing on all cylinders, from jokingly calling a reporter an "asshole" to detailing his shroom dosage mishap.
"My buddy told me this was just a microdose of mushrooms, and he was lying," Bublé told the scrum of reporters. "So, I'll be honest, I thought I was in Blades of Glory for most of the time that I was out there, until it sort of settled down and then I realized 'Holy shit, I'm at the NHL All-Star Game.'"
After having some time to reflect on what he'd just said, Bublé laughed, "The mushroom talk probably just lost me all of my contracts."
Whether he's joking about the shrooms or not (it's actually hard to tell), Bublé's elite Blades of Glory reference was almost certainly in jest — a tip of the cap to his press conference partner Arnett, who starred in the Will Ferrell figure skating flick back in 2007.
The unlikely duo of Bublé and Arnett were at Scotiabank Arena choosing teams for the upcoming All-Star game alongside opposing captains Tate McRae and Justin Bieber, who treated fans to a surprise concert at the event.
Although the celebrity captains aren't actually playing in Sunday's game — although Bublé argued that they're the "heart and soul" of their respective teams — he'd probably be the best equipped to do so, considering he has a hockey rink in his basement.
