Ahead of delivering a massive covers collection of their own next month, Metallica have announced plans to release two of their own reinterpretations on vinyl in tribute to the late Chris Cornell.

As part of their Metallica Vinyl Club, which launched last year, the heavy music icons are pressing their covers of Soundgarden's "All Your Lies" and "Head Injury" to wax, complete with artwork done in the style of their most recent studio album, Hardwired... to Self-Destruct.

The two covers were recorded live at the 2019 Cornell tribute event I Am the Highway, which also featured performances from the Melvins, Miley Cyrus, Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and more.

"Thank you for your musk, thank you for the words, for your thoughts," drummer Lars Ulrich wrote to the late Cornell in tribute. "Thank you for the shows, thank you for the good times, for putting yourself out there, and thank you, along with your fellow bandmates, for giving us something that inspired us, excited us, meant something, moved us, and not only gave us belief in the possibilities, but turned us the fuck on."

Metallica's vinyl tribute to Cornell is now available for pre-order.

As previously reported, Metallica will celebrate 30 years of their massively successful self-titled album — best known as The Black Album — with The Metallica Blacklist

The 53-song release finds songs from The Black Album reinterpreted by the likes of St. Vincent, Jason IsbellKamasi Washington, PUP and many more.

The Metallica Blacklist is out digitally on September 10, while 4-CD and 7-LP versions will arrive on October 1 through the band's Blackened Recordings.
