Prolific crate-digging producer Madlib gave us the first half of his mighty Rock Konducta
project earlier this year, and now he's set to deliver the rest of the psych-minded goods. The second volume arrives on vinyl July 8 through his own Madlib Invazion imprint.
A press release explains that Rock Konducta is the next chapter in Madlib's long-running Beat Konducta series, this time finding the beatsmith mining "various worldwide underground rock scenes" between the 1960s and '80s. This includes tracks culled from American psych, Krautrock, '80s synth music and "acid-soaked Spanish prog-rock."
The vinyl edition of part two adds 20 tracks to the series, including the newly previewed "Black Dreams (Sludge Fight)." You can check out the blend of boom-bap beats, scorched guitar bends and more, sampled from Birmingham psych band Gravy Train's "Think of Life," down below.
In addition to the second instalment of Rock Konducta, CD and digital versions will be delivered July 15, compiling 50 tracks that include 14 extra beats not found on either vinyl release.
