Long Beach Dub All-Stars are basically Sublime without deceased singer Bradley Nowell. Like Sublime, they merge all different types of Jamaican music with rock, punk and alternative. Of course like Sublime they are also playing to an audience that knows absolutely nothing about Jamaican music, so they can get away with being as clichéd as possible and still sound original to the kids. Their attempts at dancehall alone are cringe-inspiring and most of the straight up reggae is so stale it puts me to sleep not in a good way either. The album still has some charms, with a few guest rappers, Will.I.Am (Black Eyed Peas) being the most notable, adding some vocal tracks with better than expected results. Wonders of the World will appeal to people who were diehard Sublime fans but for anyone else, I would pick up an old Sublime album to hear this sound before it went stale.
