In the past few years, British multi-instrumentalist Kwes has built up a reputation through a number of collaborations and mini-releases. Having recently signed to Warp Records, he has now announced plans to release another short-form collection with the EP Meantime, due out May 1.
According to a press release, the EP's four songs "expand upon his 'free-pop' sound which Kwes describes as pop music without limitations or expectations, free to incorporate his equal love of R&B, house, soul, pop and disco."
With a combination of synthetic sounds and vulnerable, heart-on-sleeve soul singing, Meantime contains strangely titled songs like "klee." and "lgoyh." If the latter is actually a real word then we have no idea what it means. See the tracklist below.
You can listen to the densely rhythmic, futuristic R&B single "bashful." at the bottom of the page.
Meantime:
1. klee.
2. bashful.
3. honey.
4. lgoyh.
