Kim Gray Get Philosophical About Facebook on New Single "On Screen"

It appears on the band's upcoming 'Plastic Memory' album

Vancouver bedroom popsters Kim Gray have shared a new single called "On Screen" from their upcoming album Plastic Memory.

The new record has been described by the band as "a spiritual pop record for the iPhone generation," and perhaps that rings the most true on "On Screen."

"'On Screen' was the first song I wrote for this new record," frontman Trevor Gray tells Exclaim! "At the time I was getting sucked into all sorts of YouTube conspiracy theory black holes. I was initially trying to write a smooth song for all the lovebirds out there, but ended up writing a song about Facebook."

He continues: "This song looks at memories, how they are influenced by social media and the permanency of all these 'memories' with the advent of the internet. It's funny for me to think about all the weird stuff kids will be able to dig up about their grandparents one day. It's a twisted and beautiful world."

The song features shimmering synths, woozy guitar and dreamy vocals courtesy of Gray. Listen to "On Screen" below.

Plastic Memory is due out on April 26 via Buzz Records.
