It turns out that Kevin Morby was a massive Blink-182 fan when he was a kid.
In an Instagram post from the weekend, Morby (assisted by his mom) unearthed letter that he wrote to the band back when he was only 12 years old. Seeing it now, it's apparent that he never did bother to actually send the letter.
"Hey Tom, Mark, Travis please read this hole letter I've spent months getting your guys address," the letter begins. "I have five of your CDs Buddah, Chesier Cat, Dude Ranch, Tom Mark + Travis Show and Enema of the State. So in other words all of them."
Written in pencil with adorable spelling, the letter continues: "I always wear my blink 182 tee shirts. Everyone at school just makes fun of me because I don't wear the 'nice cloths' or like rap. Sorry I know Travis likes rap. It's ok but I go for punk."
The former Woods member shared his letter after appearing on Damian Abraham's Turned Out a Punk podcast a few weeks ago, where they spoke about the influences that got him into punk. In addition to Blink, Morby explained that also enjoyed listening Green Day as a kid.
"It would've been from some radio band — technically maybe Blink-182 which led me to Green Day," Morby told Abraham. "I've always said that Green Day are the greatest gateway drug that there is. Once you're onto Green Day, you're only twice removed from the best music ever."
