Prolific Vancouver DJ/producer K-Rec (real name Kent Stephany) has been keeping busy over the Canadian winter by preparing for the release of his upcoming summery solo EP, Third Beach. A release date hasn't been announced yet, but that's not stopping the West Coast beatmaker from sharing his second single. Listen to the Checkmate-assisted "My Loves" on Exclaim.ca.
Following the same path as last month's "Best Foot," the breezy beat starts out with a sun-soaked segue containing warbly samples of orchestral jazz and fluttery flamenco guitars. After Drizzy pops by to rap about "floating in and out of consciousness," Checkmate appears to add a bit of his "Northern Touch" to the whole affair, delivering a contemplative diatribe about the disorienting nature of love.
