As the JUNOs gear up to take Halifax and Dartmouth by storm next weekend, the adjacent JUNOfest, presented by CBC Music, has unveiled details for a two-day showcase in association with Exclaim!
The first night of performances will take place on March 22 at Roxbury Urban Dive Bar's Rox Live in downtown Halifax, featuring local artists Reeny Smith, Zamani, Hailey Smith and DJ Nasty Nuck as well as Toronto-based acts RUSSELL! and Jhyve.
Festivities will then head to the Marquee Ballroom on March 23, where a slate of Maritimes performers led by Quake Matthews, LXVNDR, DJ Uncle Fester and Wolastoqey hip-hop outfit City Natives will once again take the stage ahead of Toronto artists Haviah Mighty, 2023 Exclaim! cover star TOBi, and DJ Mel Boogie.
Both shows will begin at 9 p.m. AT and span well past midnight.
As if performing at the Exclaim! showcase somehow doesn't make for an exciting enough weekend, TOBi, Haviah Mighty and Jhyve will also all be up for JUNOs at the awards show on March 24. TOBi and Haviah Mighty are both in the running for Rap Album of the Year with PANIC and Crying Crystals respectively, while Jhyve's track "Unbreakable" is contending for Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year.
