Singer-songwriter John Prine has been hospitalized due to coronavirus complications.
His family gave an update on his health status earlier today, stating that Prine developed symptoms suddenly before being placed in critical care on Thursday (March 26) and subsequently being intubated last night (March 28).
The artist's family is now asking for fans to send words of love and encouragement to Prine as he endures this difficult health situation.
"This is hard news for us to share," the family wrote on behalf of the Prine. "But so many of you have loved and supported John over the years, we wanted to let you know, and give you the chance to send on more of that love and support now. And know that we love you, and John loves you."
Earlier in March, Prine's wife Fiona also tested positive for COVID-19. At the time, Prine was tested as a precaution but his results came back "indeterminate."
