A new reissue from rock'n'roll icon John Cale is always welcome, and so we're pleased to report that his 1972 album The Academy in Peril will be getting a vinyl repressing later this year.
The exact release date has yet to be confirmed, but 4 Men with Beards will soon be pressing it on 180-gram wax. It will come housed in a recreation of the original die-cut gatefold sleeve.
For the unfamiliar, The Academy in Peril is primarily instrumental and features two songs with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood additionally makes an appearance. For the artwork, Cale enlisted his old Velvet Underground-era buddy Andy Warhol.
As far as we're aware, the original tracklist will be preserved, making this a simple repress rather than expanded edition. Look for the reissue to arrive sometime in 2014.
