Joel Plaskett Books Canadian Spring Tour

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 5, 2012

When we spoke with Joel Plaskett last year, the beloved Halifax songwriter was beginning to look ahead to his next LP. We still don't know when the follow-up to 2009's Three will be arriving, but fans have plenty to be excited about, as he just unveiled plans to hit the road in the spring.

The Broken Speaker reports that Plaskett confirmed a slew of Canadian dates in an email sent to fans. These gigs will take place in April and May, and find the troubadour travelling from the west coast, across the prairies, out to Montreal and then back to Ontario. There are currently 11 shows booked. See the schedule below.

Plaskett also posted a mysterious "coming soon" message on his website with a picture of a monkey along with the words "Scrappy Happiness" and the dates January 10-March 13. Perhaps this means that the tour is called the Scrappy Happiness Tour, although the dates appear to be entirely wrong. It's also possible that Scrappy Happiness is the name of the forthcoming album.

Whatever the case, fans should sit tight for more announcements from the Plaskett camp soon.

UPDATE: Plaskett has now cleared up the meaning of that Scrappy Happiness image in addition to adding new dates and announcing Frank Turner as a touring buddy. Get the scoop here.
