Norwegian exploratory jazz ensemble Jaga Jazzist have a new album called Starfire coming out tomorrow (June 2), and the group are celebrating with a performance video for "Oban."
The tune is almost 13 minutes long (which presumably explains why Starfire has just five songs). The ensemble perform this epic prog-jazz track in a room filled with instruments and mood-setting bars of glowing light. The results are complex and adventurous, with dense syncopations tying together a dramatic arrangement that incorporates rocking passages, buzzy electronics and swelling horns.
Watch the performance below. Starfire will arrive through Ninja Tune.
