Having just announced a Canadian tour, Evanescence are gearing up for a big 2024 — but does singer Amy Lee also have a high-profile side-hustle on deck?
Last month, Orgy's Jay Gordon made waves by claiming he heard that Linkin Park had "a girl singer now." He promptly backtracked his comments on Facebook, denying everything despite the fact that there's video footage of the interview where he said what he said.
Despite Gordon clearly not being the best source, it appears as though the rumour has continued to swirl and evolved into naming a name beyond "girl singer" — and that name is Amy Lee.
In conjunction with yesterday's (April 23), tour announcement, Lee and Halestorm's Lzzy Hale sat down with iHeartRadio for an interview, where the Evanescence frontwoman addressed the rumours.
"That is an incredible compliment," Lee said, admitting that this is the first she's heard of the rumours. "No, I have not been contacted [by Linkin Park] or anything like that. But [I'm a] huge fan and feel like our worlds, our fanbases are a lot of the same people."
She went on to reveal that the two bands had crossed paths once at the studio while they were recording 2003's Fallen, and she had gotten to have a conversation with Linkin Park's late vocalist, Chester Bennington. However, Lee confirmed that she was not their new singer — but that the idea was "awesome."
"They should ask me about that," she added. "I don't have a ton of free time, but I might do it part-time."
