Peter Sagar has returned with plans for HOMESHAKE's sixth studio album, the follow-up to 2021's Under the Weather and the massive 2022 Pareidolia Catalog mixtapes. CD Wallet arrives March 8 via Dine Alone Records.
Its first preview is its title track, which flips the HOMESHAKE sound on his head, with Sagar (mostly) ditching the falsetto and leaning into fuzzed-out guitars, and an unmistakable rock palette. Written and recorded over at Sagar's home studio in Toronto in 2023, the record is said to "take place" in his hometown of Edmonton.
The title track's accompanying video was made by Jim Larson in Edmonton and sees Sagar visiting his childhood home and places he hasn't seen since moving away.
In a press release, Sagar explained that the album was "made in a heavy, straightforward indie rock style to impress my childhood self." He is said to address "feelings of nostalgia and the trappings one finds themselves in when reflecting on years past" on the record.
