Gorillaz have dropped a surprise EP entitled Meanwhile, which features three tracks that the band debuted at their London shows earlier this month.
On August 10, Gorillaz performed two shows for National Health Service (NHS) workers at London's O2 Arena. During their set, they shared three new songs featuring Jelani Blackman, AJ Tracey and Alicaì Harley, which have now been released as an EP.
According to a press release, the songs on Meanwhile are "a joyous homage to the iconic Notting Hill Carnival." The West London attraction has been on hold for the past two years due to the pandemic. The EP's cover also pays tribute to a famous West London site, the Trellick Tower.
Meanwhile follows the band's 2020 full-length album Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez.
