High-voiced and low-string-playing Rush frontman Geddy Lee has confirmed the release details of his memoir, which is titled My Effin' Life and will be out on November 14 through HarperCollins. In the meantime, he has served as the narrator for the Toronto Blue Jays' home opening video.
The memoir features never-before-seen photos, and a synopsis reveals that the story will begin even before Lee's birth, with stories of his parents' traumatic experiences as teenagers in concentration camps in World War II.
From there, Lee will describe dropping out of high school to pursue music. The synopsis promises "intimate stories of his lifelong friendships with bandmates Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart — deeply mourning Peart's recent passing — and reveals his obsessions in music and beyond."
Lee previously announced plans for the book in 2021, at the time predicting that it would be out in 2022. The idea for the memoir sprung from his previous book, 2018's Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass. He found the time to write My Effin' Life while locked down in Toronto during the pandemic.
