The year 2011 was a turning point for Massachusetts pop punk crew Four Year Strong. Nearing the year's end, the release of their fourth studio album, In Some Way, Shape, or Form, saw the band forego the use of keyboards and synthesizers due to the departure of keyboardist Josh Lyford, with the band effectively becoming a quartet focused on a new sonic direction.
Before a recent Toronto appearance, Exclaim! TV met up with bandmates Alan Day and Dan O'Connor at the city's Tiny Record Shop to watch them perform an acoustic rendition of "Stuck in the Middle," a track taken from their aforementioned full-length.
Dialling back the in-your-face riff-rock of the original recording, Day and O'Connor's two-part harmonies are only augmented by their bluesy, light-hearted acoustic strums. Breaking out in the bridge section, the two guitarists display some impressive guitar chops in addition to some call-and response vocals.
