A day after Fela Kuti would have turned 79, the next instalment in the Afrobeat legend's box set series has been revealed.
Following a collection from Brian Eno, the fourth addition will be curated by neo-soul icon Erykah Badu. The set will be available in a limited edition of 3,000 through Knitting Factory Records on December 15.
Badu's box set will include 1976's Yellow Fever (1976), No Agreement (1977), J.J.D. (Johnny Just Drop) (1977), V.I.P. (1979), Coffin for Head of State (1980), Army Arrangement (1984), and Underground System (1992).
The set will also contain never-before-published photos, "in-depth commentaries by veteran music journalist and Afrobeat historian, Chris May" and seven personal essay authored by Badu. The box is also said to contain Badu's "favourite Fela piece of all time."
"Fela Kuti is a Fucking Genius," Badu said in a statement. "Please listen to these tracks, preferably with a nice blunt.. with a nice slow burn."
