Well, it's that time again: the venerable Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced the class of nominees for its 2022 Induction, including Dolly Parton, Rage Against the MachineBeck, Kate Bush, Pat Benatar, Eurythmics and Judas Priest

There are a total of 17 acts nominated, seven of which are appearing on the ballot for the first time — among them are Beck, Parton, Duran Duran, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, A Tribe Called Quest and Eminem, with the rapper being in his first year of eligibility for nomination. An artist needs to have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the nominal year to be eligible for a shot at that coveted spot in the Hall.

Rock Hall nominees are determined by an international voting body of more than 1,000 historians, artists and members of the music industry, considering criteria like an artist's level of innovation, length and depth of career, stylistic superiority and influence on other artists.

"This year's ballot recognizes a diverse group of incredible artists, each who has had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture," Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation chairman John Sykes said in a press release. "Their music not only moved generations, but also influenced the sound of countless artists that followed."

Fans can vote daily — today through April 29 — to determine the public's top five, comprising a fans' ballot that will be tallied along with the other ballots to select the 2022 Inductees, which will be announced in May.

Last year's inductees were Foo Fighters, the Go-Go's, Jay-Z, Carole King, Todd Rundgren and Tina Turner.
