Earlier this year, one half of Kings of Convenience and former Whitest Boy Alive leader Erlend Øye promised us Legao, the Norwegian musician's new solo album with Icelandic reggae group Hjalmar. Now we're getting a better idea what to expect via a new classily done video.
The clip in question is for new album track "Garota," which is a grooving offering full of skanking guitar rhythms, some whirling organs and, of course, Øye's ultra-smooth vocals. As we've come to expect from Øye's solo work, it's a far cry from the folked-out sounds of Kings of Convenience.
As for the clip itself, it finds a romantically charged Øye travelling Seoul, South Korea, where he gets tangled up with a local love interest. We don't want to spoil the ending, but this international love story is a bit of a downer.
The video was shot and directed by Michael Beech, and you can watch it below.
While Legao was originally pegged with a May release date, it now will arrive on October 3 via Øye's own Bubbles Records. You can pre-order it on iTunes here.
