Erase Errata Call It Quits

After 16 years of cranking out angular, no wave-inspired music, San Francisco-based trio Erase Errata are calling it a day. A recent message from the group confirms that a pair of shows this October will be their last.

Singer/guitarist Jenny Hoyston delivered the news through the outfit's Facebook profile, explaining: "It's with mixed emotions that I announce that Ellie [Erickson], Bianca [Sparta], and I have decided to call it quits on this project after 16 mind blowing years." They'll cap their career with a pair of shows in Austin and Houston. You'll find the date and venue details down below.

Hoyston went on to thank her bandmates, including long-exited guitarist Sara Jaffe, for "changing my life forever," and further saluted a list of friends and bands, including Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon, the Gossip, Can's Damo Suzuki, and the Flying Luttenbachers' Weasel Walter.

"Who knew an awkward little butch from Freeport, Texas would end up performing in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe in addition to North America," Hoyston wrote, noting how grateful she was for being in the band.

Erase Errata formed in 1999 in San Francisco, and released 2001's Other Animals and 2003's At Crystal Palace through the Troubleman Unlimited imprint. Jaffe left the band in 2004, with the band's 2006's Nightlife for Kill Rock Stars being their first full-length recording as a trio.

Over the years, the band would also issue split singles with Sonic Youth, Black Dice, the Gossip, Numbers and more.

Earlier this year, they delivered their final LP Lost Weekend. You'll find a video for that set's "History of Handclaps" down below.
