Norwegian metal vets Enslaved have announced they're about to entrap our ears once again, revealing that their 13th full-length, In Times, is set to drop next year. Nuclear Blast will have the album out March 6.
A press release explains that the album was primarily tracked between Duper Studios and Solslottet Studio in Bergen, Norway, though additional sessions took place at Conclave & Earshot Studios, band member Ivar Bjørnson's Peersonal Sound Studios and a mobile unit in the woods in the Valevåg region of Bergen. Production duties were handled by Enslaved's Bjørnson, Grutle Kjellson and Herbrand Larsen, along with Iver Sandøy, who had also produced 2012's RIITIIR.
A statement from guitarist and songwriter Bjørnson had him explaining that In Times melds the "blacker" sounds of the band's past with progressive elements, describing the results as "higher in energy, more aggressive, yet more beautiful and subtle."
"The songs are extensions of my inner and outer life, the thoughts I am aware of having, as well as those that lie too deep to register in everyday consciousness," he added. "The songs are the resounds of grandiose altered states and mundane tiny micro-events. In addition, they are, of course, also the result of inspiration from other music and art."
While previews have yet to be unleashed, a tracklisting for the set can be seen down below. The album art, prepped by longtime visual collaborator Truls Espedal, can be seen up above.
A Vancouver appearance has also been announced for March, finding Enslaved topping a bill with Yob and Ecstatic Vision. Info on the rest of the North American tour, which starts March 5, has yet to be unveiled in full. The outfit will also be playing Roadburn next year. You'll find the show schedule as is down below.
