Following the release of their live album Sing the Melody from late last year, Dirty Projectors have shared a brand new single titled "Overlord." The track arrives today alongside a video directed by the band's own Dave Longstreth.
The visual effort stars Projectors' guitarist, Maia Friedman, who also sings on the track.
As for the song itself, the band have elaborated on its themes in the following statement:
Tongue-in-cheek ode to surveillance capitalism? Critique of our primal confusion of charisma for actual leadership? Cautionary tale about blind faith in technology? Anti-fascist manifesto? Who knows, but "Overlord" feels like a "Both Sides Now" for our brave new Amazon Prime world.
Dirty Projectors' last studio album was 2018's Lamp Lit Prose. So far, they have yet to announce a follow-up effort.
