Georgia Holt — singer, actress, model and mother of Cher — has passed away at 96. Cher confirmed the news via her Twitter account this weekend, tweeting simply "mom is gone."

No cause of death has been released, but Holt was reportedly struggling with her health in recent months, having been hospitalized with pneumonia, among other issues, in September.

"Sorry I've Been Mia. Mom's Been Sick Off & On. She Just Got Out Of Hosp. She Had Pneumonia. She's Getting Better," Cher tweeted at the time.

Holt was born in Kensett, AR, in 1926 and won several talent and beauty competitions as a youth. Throughout the 1950s, she played a number of minor roles in film and television — including appearances on I Love Lucy and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet — and continued to make television appearances later in life, though her career was superseded by her daughter's massive success. In 2013, she released her debut solo album Honky Tonk Woman
