Bonnie Trash — the Guelph drone-rock project led by twins Emmalia and Sarafina Bortolon-Vettor — have shared their blistering new single "Hellmouth," along with a music video today. Taken from their anticipated album Mourning You, due February 28 via Hand Drawn Dracula, the single is the band's latest offering in their exploration of grief, love and the realities of mortality.
Opening with a swirling melody, "Hellmouth" explodes into searing guitar riffs, driven by Emmalia's gritty Stratocaster. Sarafina's aching yet defiant vocals anchor the song's emotional core as she plunges into the cathartic chorus: "Drag me to hell and back I go." The single is a striking reflection on the intensity of loss, merging sorrow with a sense of rebellion.
Where their past work drew on their Italian heritage's folklore, Mourning You confronts death head-on, marking a bold shift in the band's sonic and emotional landscape. It's clear the sisters, now joined by bassist Emma Howarth-Withers and drummer Dana Bellamy, are pushing the band's sound into more evocative territory.
