Black Atlass, the Ontario-bred R&B crooner born Alex Fleming, has announced his latest album. Dream Awake is due April 3 via XO Records/Republic Records/Universal Music Canada.
In a statement on the new album, Fleming explained, "Dream Awake is a metaphor to describe the feeling of lust. The album is a journey about the joy and chaos two people experience in the process of coming to know one another and ultimately falling in love."
Accompanying the album announcement is new single "By My Side" featuring SONIA (a.k.a. singer and model Sonia Ben Ammar). The sultry R&B track finds Atlass taking more than a few cues from XO Records label boss the Weeknd and trading verses with SONIA before duetting in the choruses.
Black Atlass has also been announced as one of the opening acts of the Weeknd's European leg of his "After Hours Tour," set for October or November — assuming, of course, that it doesn't join the many events impacted by coronavirus concerns.
