Björk is turning 60 this year, believe it or not, and she's spent almost that entire time making music. She's remained kinda everywhere and nowhere over the last decade of her career, dropping three excellent albums in that time, as well as the subsequent, super-exclusive live show that celebrates them, Cornucopia.
Unless you're willing to travel abroad, it does seem not likely that Canadians will get a chance to check it out, but thankfully, Apple Music's Zane Lowe got the inside scoop to share with the rest of us before we feast our eyes on Apple TV's concert film, which dropped today.
Lowe sat down with Björk (whom he correctly refers to as the GOAT) for the artist's first on-camera interview in over a decade to discuss the continuously morphing form of her oeuvre, specifically since the release of 2015's Vulnicura, but also encompassing all that came before, in the multihyphenate's young punk days, and in more recent years.
They talk about Björk's luck in label representation, her chill experience with fame in Iceland, and her natal chart, for the astrology girlies ("I'm like a quadruple Scorpio, so it's super internal introvert energy," she shares [her big three included, according to Astro-charts.com]). And, for the gossips, she also skirts around the Arca subject.
The nearly hour-long interview is fascinating — focusing on matters concerning Björk's art and mind — but it's also visually incredible; between shots of Cornucopia and the musician's sequined Dune-esque interview outfit and signature James Merry faceplate, it's an audio-visual delight. Soak it all in below.
