Montreal's Bibi Club — the synthpop duo of Adèle Trottier-Rivard and Nicolas Basque — have announced their sophomore album, previewed today by new single "L'île aux bleuets."
Feu de garde arrives May 10 through Secret City Records. Mixed by Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding) and mastered by Matt Colton (Depeche Mode, James Blake), it follows 2022's Le soleil et la mer — and features late-2023 single "Le feu," which we named one of the 25 Best Songs of the year.
“’L’île aux bleuets’ is located on a lake in the middle of the Laurentides in Quebec. A secret lair that you can only reach by swimming there, by surpassing your limits," the pair said of the gleaming new single. "The song was written in a London park, amongst the trees. Just guitar, vocals and a drum machine, inspired by the minimalism of our main influence, Suicide. It’s about love, obstacles, forging ahead, jumping off cliffs, being authentic, doubt, and the strength someone can give you.”
