After having welcomed new frontperson Rui Martins into the fold back in 2021, French metalcore act Betraying the Martyrs have announced that they're calling it quits. As a final offering, the band have shared a double-single and an accompanying music video.

"Betraying the Martyrs have decided to part ways. After a 15-year-old very successful career that has seen the French band perform over 990 concerts throughout the whole world, BTM have decided to call it a day," the band's statement began. "Today's world's economical situation, and never ending increases in touring costs (during and right after COVID) took a massive toll on all of us, financially but also individually (physically and mentally) and we simply came to the conclusion that we don't have the strength to move forward together anymore."

They continued, "For the past months, we have been struggling to function as a band, to make consensual, unanimous decisions and to be able to all look in the same directions. That being said, it is with a lot of emotions and a very heavy heart that we would like to present to you our very last piece, a beautiful 7-minute-long music video that took us immense efforts in the making. A farewell gift for you all to enjoy."

Betraying the Martyrs formed in Paris in 2008. The following year, they released an entirely DIY debut EP, and, in 2011, they put out their first album, Breathe in Life, to global audiences via Sumerian and Listenable Records. Their most recent full-length release remains 2019's Rapture, and followed that up with last year's Silver Lining EP β€” which saw Martins make his debut, replacing Aaron Matts behind the mic.
