Arkells' Max Kerman Triumphs to Become Namesake of Hamilton Snowplow

Some never thought that this would happen

Election results often don't tend to spark this much joy, so we'll be savouring this one: by an avalanche, Arkells' Max Kerman has been voted the namesake of a city of Hamilton snowplow.

The plow-naming contest — and Kerman's anonymous nomination in the form of "Max Kermanator" — came to light in December, with voting open until last Sunday (January 8). Once the social media heavyweight band got behind the nomination and started encouraging fans to vote, there was no slowing their roll: Max Kermanator effectively salted the rest of the competition's game, winning by a steep snowbank-sized margin.

The city announced the results of the vote via Twitter this morning, revealing the top 10 snowplow monikers as voted by the public. Max Kermanator received 18,723 votes, while respectable runners-up Plowy McPlowface and CTRL-SALT-DELETE received 2,167 and 1,139 votes, respectively.

Arkells celebrated clearing out the competition on Instagram, sharing the results of the votes and a video unveiling the newly christened Max Kermanator plow.

"My daddy always told me to go out into the world and be proud of our family name," Kerman (human, not plow) wrote in the caption. "My ancestors who fled Eastern Europe in search of a better life would never believe what was announced today. City of Hamilton had a contest to name the snowplows. My name was submitted (Max Kermanator) and needless to say we got out the vote won in a landslide. Thank you to everyone #hamont who voted."
